Roast Beef and Swiss Crock Pot Sandwich Loaf with How To Assemble Instructional Video

Since the very first time that I shared the original crock pot sandwich loaf recipe, I’ve gotten multiple emails, comments and questions regarding how to assemble it. That is where this video comes in to play. It is step by step instructions on how to easily assemble and crock it.

I make many variations of thie sandwich loaf to serve with crock pot soups, at football parties and for lunches on the weekend. But this particular day it was the roast beef and swiss crock pot sandwich loaf that had us loving the crock. Here is how I did it:

  • 1 round loaf of a hearty bread
  • 1 pound of thinly sliced rare roast beef
  • 10 slices of swiss cheese (I actually did a couple with provolone too)

Slice your round loaf so that you can get a total of 5 sandwiches out of it, but don’t slice all the way through the bottom.
Place two slices of cheese overlapping  one another on a cutting board. Do this a total of 5 times.
Now evenly distribute the pound of roast beef slices on top of the cheeses.
Pick up each mound of cheese and roast beef as if your folding the cheese around the meat. Place it, making sure you alternate between slices, in the bread. Do this until you’ve placed all five in the sliced loaf.
Lay two 24″ pieces of aluminum foil on a counter top. Make sure they are overlapping.
Lay a 24″ piece of parchment paper in the middle of the aluminum foil pieces.
Place the stuffed sandwich loaf in the middle of the parchment paper. Bring the edges of the paper to the middle and fold down to secure. You want to make sure the entire loaf is covered completely before wrapping with the foil.
Once you have the foil wrapped completely around the parchment covered loaf, place on top of a heatproof dish inside a 6 quart crock pot (you just want to make sure your wrapped loaf will fit into whatever size crock you’re using). Make sure you’ve added 1/2 cup of water before placing the loaf into crock.
Cover with lid and cook on high for 3 – 4 hours.
When done slice the sandwich loaf into individual sandwiches and serve with your favorite toppings. For this roast beef sandwich loaf I used cooked mushrooms with onions and steak sauce.
