Caramel Filled Baked Apples

This is a great fall dessert. While it is cooking, it smells better than any scented candle you could buy. You’ll want to cook these just to be able to smell them (and yes, I’ve done that before…. DON’T judge).
-4 Granny Smith apples, cored

-½ cup apple juice

-8 Tablespoons of light brown sugar

-12 Red Hot candies

-4 Tablespoons butter

-8 caramel candies, unwrapped

-¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

Peel the apples approximately ¾ inches from the top. Place each apple in the inside of a 3 – 4 quart slow cooker. Pour the apple juice over the apples. Fill each apple with 2 Tablespoons of brown sugar, three Red Hots candies, 1 Tablespoon of butter add two caramel candies. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over top of the apples and cook, covered, on low for 2½ – 3 hours. You are looking for the apples to be tender and the caramels to be completely melted. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.
