Crock Pot Frozen Green Beans

So a while back I posed the question "How do you cook your frozen green beans in the crock pot?"

I eat lots of frozen veggies.... all the time really. We love frozen broccoli. I use a lot of frozen onions, carrots and peppers in stews and soups. And I always have frozen corn and brussel sprouts on hand.

There has just been something about the taste of the frozen green beans that I did not like. Even Miss Maddy (who LOVES green beeans... even makes green bean sandwiches) would not eat the frozen green beans that I would cook.

Once I asked the question I got a lot of good responses..... but it seemed it was all things that I had tried before. So as a last resort I tried the only thing I hadn't. OH MY GAWSH!!! They were so good and everybody ate them up.

Here is how I did it:
  • 10 ounce package of frozen green beans, THAWED
  • chicken stock (about two cups)
  • 1/2 tablespoon of seasoning salt
The most important step in this process is to thaw your frozen green beans. I just laid mine in the fridge overnight to do this.

Now you're going to rinse the green beans very well.

Place them in a 1 1/2 quart crock pot. Add the salt and chicken stock, making sure the chicken stock covers them completely.

Cook on low 6 - 7 hours or on high for 3 - 4 hours.

These were super delicous and didn't have any kind of funky freezer taste to them. The simple step of thawing and rinsing them made all the differnce in the world.
