This recipe sounded sooooooo good I just had to post it. It is submitted by Tanya from Philadelphia. Just another thing to do with that delcious crock pot apple butter. Anyways, you can't go wrong with crock pot ribs.
Here is how Tanya did it:
3 lbs boneless pork country-style ribs
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 medium onion sliced
½ cup of apple butter
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1. Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper. In 3 ½ to 4-quart slow cooker, place ribs. Cover with onion slices. In small bowl, mix remaining ingredients, pour over ribs and onion
2. Cover; cook on Low heat 8-10 hours
3. Remove ribs from cooker; place on serving platter. Cover to keep warm
4. Pour juices from cooker through strainer into-1quart saucepan. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat; reduce heat to medium. Cook about 5 minutes or until sauce has slightly thickened. Serve sauce with ribs. 4 servings

This recipe sounds delicious. I have to try it. I do my country ribs in our small crock pot all the time - I just add a bottle of chili sauce to them. I have a question though what is "liquid smoke"?
ReplyDeleteLiquid smoke can be found on the condiments isle (with ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, etc.). It gives a taste of being cooked on a grill.... that unforgettable smoky flavor.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try the country style ribs with chili sauce.. I don't know why I never thought of that before. Thanks for sharing Sandy :)
What a great recipe idea. We have apple butter in the pantry, and I love using country style ribs, especially in the crock pot. I'm going to put it in my recipe file.
